Improve searching in ALIM Web

The top 5 areas identified through user research are:

  1. Ability to add additional parameter to search query

  2. Ability to filter search results

  3. Ability to quickly navigate between search results and particular record properties

  4. Ability to have saved searches

  5. Ability to perform multiple searches (tabs)

Hi Zaur, nothing wrong to include your comments here - this is a very valuable input. Thank you. It sounds that in your situation there are a lot of drawings which have not been processed to extract related tags. I will pass this information to the implementation team who is working with your company so that they could evaluate one of those options I mentioned. The search in ALIM is only as useful indeed as the data that is available in it to be searched. Let's see if we can improve that.

    Hi, Mikhail.

Yeap, maybe you are right. I just saw the title which says, "improve searching in ALIM web" and include my thoughts. In general, ALIM search isn't useful. If you search for a tag data and you will not find related documents. You can't see any cable, i/o, alarm schedule, termination, block, hook up diagrams, detailed drawings and so on. You have only two choices, you have to open the document number if you know it or otherwise to search it according to document type and then open them one by one till you get the tag which you are looking for. Can you imagine how long it will take?

I didn't know where to include my opinions. So, I accept my apologies If I included under wrong subject.

Hi, thanks for providing feedback. This specific idea is targeted at improving search on the data which has already been extracted and is available in ALIM. The use case you refer to is a slightly different one, it's about extracting intelligence from drawings. We have some approaches to achieve that, e.g. tag information can be extracted from an intelligent iModel (either 3D or 2D), and we have an ML tool to process 2D PDF files - although it was trained on P&IDs specifically.

Also it would be great that to improve search results according to the tags. When we search for a tag most of the time ALIM provides limited related documents (only couple, in the best manner 4-5 documents not more). But if you know the document number exactly you can open and see that mentioned tag is there despite ALIM doesn't show that document number whilst searching. For instance, if you check for a 7ECP80110I6 tag you will not get any related document number. But if you check AM-SAZZZZ-CS-BLD-0005-00 drawing you will see that it is there. Another example, if you search for a SA-FJB0202 tag you will get two related documents which both of them are location drawings. However, if you check TP-SAZZZZ-CS-BLD-4080-001 you will see that mentioned Fire and Gas junction box has been indicated on that drawing. Please, see attachments. There are lots of such situation.
